At the Crewe Heritage Centre On Friday 27th November 2009 from 9.30 a.m. until 11.45 a.m.

We are seeking consensus on how local people can express a vision of Crewe and what they see as the problems, and then find solutions to them.

That’s why CREAM has invited the following to speak on:

Master Planning For Crewe Launch

The CREAM document ' Master Planning for Crewe, Planning for Real. A 21st Century Prospectus' will be launched in Crewe on 27th November.

09:30 till 11:45 will be at the Crewe Heritage Centre and then from 12 noon until 13:30 at the Hops Bar Cafe for Market Traders and Nantwich Road businesses.

Their will be 7 speakers from MP's, Trade Unions, Rail user groups, Environment and Business/Train operating companies.

Please do come along to see and hear the CREAM plan for the future of Crewe.

The Campaign Continues.

The Campaign Group CREAM, still as a job of work to do?

Its now time to refocus on being a stakeholder rather that an opposition group:

After the planned moving of Crewe Station by Network Rail and others have now been dropped.

It is now time to look ahead and focus on the new Masterplanning project that will involve looking at the whole picture not just the Railway Station.

The current debate looks at future spatial, economic and transport priorities for Crewe.

This will also look at a regeneration package which will be the development of a high-level vision for Crewe and hopefully put in prospective its regional importance via a business case for major public sector investment from regional and national government.

Discussions will take place soon to get a consensus on this issue so that clarity and awareness on the true economic and connectivity to this key gateway are realised.

In the light of news in the railway media about a new study that backs a call For High Speed 2 and looks at a proposal for high speed diverging line to Warrington and Liverpool but does not mention Crewe?

With this in mind it is imperative to use the lobbying skills of our organisation CREAM to ensure that we get a slice of the action and not become a railway backwater.

CREAM is an organisation made up of wide range of support from local rail user groups, Trade Unions along with concerned environmentalists and local businesspeople.

It is meeting on Saturday the 26^th of September 2009 at the Royal Hotel Nantwich Road Crewe from 10:30 am

Next Meeting

CREAM are meeting on Saturday 26th September, at 10-30, in the Royal Hotel Crewe. This is a very important meeting as it will discuss issues regarding both the Gateway Scheme investment and the future of Crewe Station regarding the new proposed West Coast high speed line.

More information and a draft agenda to follow. Please come along and both give your support and understand the proposals and plans being put forward. These proposals and plans could have a detrimental effect on Crewe as a town if they go the wrong way.

Cycling Facilities On Crewe Station

Please see below an extract from a letter sent by one of our members if you have similar views please don't hesitate to contact us.

As the evenings have got brighter I see a sudden increase in cycling; in fact there was no room on platform 6 for my bike at Crewe station this morning.

Getting on a train after a short bout of exercise means that the blood flow to the skin is increased, heart rate quickens, pupils dilate and posture improves. Try it: Clearly attracted by your vigour, fellow passengers, struggling to think of something to engage you, will see your bicycle and whisper the classic question: ‘Have you come far?’

So the promotion of cycling, integrated with improving Crewe station can promote community cohesion, better health, less traffic and more love. Surely something worth championing?

Crewe Railway Station will not be moved now. CREAM would like to thank all those who supported and helped us here whether , financially,verbally, via petition, hosting our meetings, or voting on this site.

We even managed to get a early day motion put through the houses of parliament.

But the campaign is not over. We now need to push to get the facilities improved the Gateway Scheme previously had some 38m of funds earmarked for Crewe Station.

Please if you have attended before and have any returned leaflets which are filled in please return to us ASAP.

Be prepared to do more leafleting at the following places Nantwich Road /Crewe Station, Crewe Alex football ground.

And Crewe Town Centre.

Placards, clip boards will be provided along with a coordinator who will collect filled in leaflets.

The Campaign Trail

The campaign trail has started over the last two weeks with press releases, visits to local businesses along Nantwich Road, campaigning on local regional trains and senior members of CREAM attending many meetings of other key parties and groups in the area.

We need your support in getting peoples views, NOW, to the proposal to move Crewe Station to Basford. This way will have a large group that will be heard.

Please attend our meeting at the Royal Hotel on the 8th November (11am) to air your views, find out more or help us get the views of people and businesses.

This Saturday a group of local people and trades union members met at the Royal Hotel on Nantwich Road to plan next steps to Improve, not Move, Crewe station. Several volunteered to distribute leaflets during the protest week of 27th October. If you can join us please let us know which days and times you can meet up to leaflet station users. The next meeting will be at the Royal Hotel at 11 oclock, next saturday 25th October.

CREAM is a campaign group composed of rail based organisations Rail Unions, Environment Groups, Rail User groups, Passengers user groups and residents from the Crewe & Nantwich area along with companies who may be affected by changes to timetables, rail project and other works which have an effect on their business and trading postion.

Their primary campaign was regarding the moving of Crewe Station to Basford, it is now to improve Crewe Station.
